Q5 Life

Privacy.

Short, because there isn't much to say.

The list

If you join the list, we store your email address, which of the app or the trips you asked about, the date you signed up, and that you signed up on this site. That is the whole record.

We use it to send one email when the thing you asked about is ready. We don't sell it, share it, or add you to anything else. To be removed, write to hello@q5life.com and we'll delete the record.

The out-of-office generator

It runs in your browser. Dates, names, and emails you type there are never sent anywhere. When you press Copy, the site may record that a copy happened and which kind, for example "Slack status", as a daily count. No text, no address, no identifier.

What this site doesn't do

  • No cookies.
  • No analytics or tracking scripts.
  • No advertising pixels or third-party scripts.

Fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them. If you pick a light or dark theme, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage and stays there.

The app

The Q5 Life iPhone app finds places on your phone. Your location, your calendar, and your taste settings stay on the phone. We have no accounts and no login.

To explain why a place is worth a visit, the app sends our server the place itself: its name, category, and the place's own coordinates. It also sends a random install identifier so we can limit abuse. It never sends where you are. Explanations are written by an AI model from Wikipedia and Wikivoyage, and are labeled as such in the app.

Content from Reddit

If the app shows what people on Reddit have said about a place, each excerpt is shown as written, credited to its author and community, and linked to the original on Reddit. We keep excerpts for no more than 48 hours, and we remove anything that has been deleted on Reddit. We do not use Reddit content to train AI models, and we do not sell or share it.

Hosting

The site and the list run on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Standard server logs may briefly record requests, as they do for any site.
